Self-care is a buzzword these days. In fact, people who truly practice self-care in their lives tend to experience less stress, distress, and resilience.
“Self-care”… It sounds easy enough, but life can often get in the way, whether it be chaotic schedules after daily activities, caring for a parent, or day-to-day work. And many times, when you have free time, self-care is often put on the back burner.
The good news? It is not necessary to do a daily 30-minute meditation practice, do an hour of yoga, or spend an hour doing skin care each day. If you don't have enough hours in the day, you can still continue taking care of yourself. In just 60 seconds, taking small moments for yourself can make a big difference.
Here you will find 3 ways to take care of yourself, even when you don't have time.
1. Take 4 deep breaths
Breathing is proof that it doesn't take much time to do good to your mind and body. Just a few seconds to calm your mind and stabilize your body can help you relieve stress and face the hours of the day in peace. Breathing for a few minutes every few hours will help you increase compassion and emotional stability.
Take the time to do this action 4 times a day, in between your activities.
Here's how to do it: Breathe deeply for a count of four, hold your breath for four counts, and then exhale for four counts.
The best part? The effects of diaphragmatic breathing can even be cumulative, meaning that doing it regularly can translate into long-term stress relief.
2. Smile more often between your activities
There is a reason why people say laughter is “the best medicine.”
A laugh or a smile benefits our mental and physical health. Waking up and smiling, or being working and smiling, is one of the things that will help you see everything in a more positive way.
Smiling stimulates the release of substances such as dopamine, serotonin and endorphins, neurotransmitters that contribute to increasing the feeling of well-being and reducing levels of cortisol, a hormone that is secreted in response to stress and anxiety.
Your action plan? Smile throughout the day as much as you can, regardless of the activity you are doing.
3. Look for moments when you can find joy while doing other things
Let's look at an example, suppose you are working at home, you are cooking, or cleaning... At that same moment you can take care of yourself, using skincare products that do not take up your time and you do not have to stop your activities.
Our collagen eye patches can do that for you. Take care of yourself and feel beautiful, while you are doing your daily tasks with our Bye Dark Circles eye patches.
Bonus: Do your best to get enough sleep
We all need seven to nine hours of sleep every day. When your body goes into a sleep deficit, you will be less able to concentrate, you will be more irritable and not as resilient. Sleeping well allows you to see the days and approach daily tasks in a positive way.
